The True Meaning of Christmas

Whilst Ruddington’s wide variety of festive celebrations among traders and other village organisations in the run up to Christmas are hard to beat, it’s always good to remember the significance of this special period from a religious point of view.

That’s what our three very active Christian churches in Ruddington are inviting us to do in the coming days, and here are their main Christmas services for 2023:

Sunday 17th December

Nativity Sunday Service @ 10.30am | Ruddington Baptist Church in St Peter’s Rooms – an all-age, interactive retelling of the nativity story.

Carol Service @ 10.30am | Ruddington Methodist Church – followed by coffee & mince pies.

Carols by Candlelight @ 7pm | St Peter’s ChurchThe church will be lit with candles and the original Christmas story will be told through classic and contemporary carols, with prayers and readings.

Christmas Eve Sunday 24th December

Christingle Service @ 4pm & 6pm | St Peter’s Church – This is a great Ruddington tradition for families at Christmas – children love it. The service at 4pm completely fills the church, so there is a second service at 6pm.

Midnight Communion @ 11.00pm | St Peter’s Church – Join with St Peter’s in their traditional Holy Communion to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Christmas Day – Monday 25th December

Chocolate Nativity @10.00am | St Peter’s Church – a short, family-friendly service, followed by a brief holy communion service for those who want to stay.

Christmas Day Service @ 10.00am | Ruddington Baptist Church in St Peter’s Rooms

This year’s ‘Nativity Scene’ at Ruddington Methodist Church

All villagers are most welcome to attend any of the above events and services, to celebrate ‘The True Meaning of Christmas’.
